MANADO, INDONESIA – DECEMBER 3, 2024 When neighbours in Bahu Ward VI village began to smell a putrid odour, they began to search for its source. When they identified the housing unit from which the smell might be coming, they opened the door with the help of the building manager. They found a dead 21-year-old local resident identified as Juwita Apena. She was already in a state of decomposition and all bloated. She was last seen alive on 29 November 2024.

An initial examination of the victim found that she was bleeding from her eyes and mouth prior to death. However, the family signed an objection to an autopsy, which greatly complicated the investigation. The cause of her death remains unknown to this day.
