EL BAGRE, ANTIOQUIA, COLOMBIA – SEPTEMBER, 2022 Members of a drug cartel have no mercy even for young girls if they break their rules. A 17-year-old María Camila Espitia Villalba knows this well. She was kidnapped together with her friend by cartel members. Then photos of her started circulating on social media, with her hands tied and a little blood on her face. It all culminated when a horrifying video was published showing María already dead, with her abdominal cavity cut open and the drug traffickers pulling out her intestines.

Her dead body was found in the waters of the Nechí River. It was found that she was brutally tortured before death. It is assumed that the groups fighting for control over the Bajo Cauca territory, specifically El Clan del Golfo or Los Caparros, are responsible for her death.
