GANJA, AZERBAIJAN – MAY 12, 2025 In the city of Ganja, a boy was found on the street almost beaten to death and dying. Later he was identified as 18-year-old Elgun Ibrahimov. The next day he died of his injuries in the hospital. The incident caused public outrage mainly because of the possible involvement of the police in the incident.

Elgun was found after some random passersby heard his moaning. He was in terrible condition. Broken head, broken ribs, burst lungs and liver. Later it turned out that Elgun was secretly recording police officers who were transferring something from a civilian car to a police car. During an attempt to escape, he was caught and the recordings were deleted. There is information that the police beat him and even threw him off a roof.
After the incident, there were even attempts by the police to obstruct the investigation. The State Security Service allegedly managed to recover all deleted videos from his phone, which can serve as evidence against the police officers.
Elgun was an 11th-grade student at school No. 34 in Ganja, where he achieved excellent results in final exams. He was preparing to study at university and was known for his calm nature and love of learning.
