3 dead and more than 20 injured after collision between minibus and bus

LIMA, PERU – JULY 30, 2025 In the very center of Lima, on Alfonso Ugarte Street, near the Plaza 2 de Mayo overpass, a tragic traffic accident occurred. A minibus crashed violently into a Metropolitano public transport bus.

According to all available information, three people died and at least 20 others were injured (some sources report up to 27). Among the victims was a man who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the minibus. The impact catapulted him out, and he became trapped between the two wrecks with a fatal head injury.

The causes of the accident are still under investigation by the police. Preliminary information points to careless overtaking or excessive speed.
