GANJ BASODA, MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA – OCTOBER 23, 2026 65-year-old Prabhulal Gupta died after being electrocuted while spitting out remnants of chewing tobacco known as gutkha from a third-floor balcony. During this, he reportedly came into contact with an 11,000-volt power line. The electric shock caused extensive burns, and his body was left hanging over the edge of the balcony. Emergency responders were unable to save him.
The tragedy occurred in the residential neighborhood of Gayatri Nagar, where Gupta had lived in a rented house for approximately ten years. According to reports, local residents had previously complained about the dangerously positioned power lines. The homeowner claimed that she had repeatedly asked the electricity company to relocate them, but nothing was done.
