SAN PEDRO TAPANATEPEC, OAXACA, MEXICO – APRIL 9, 2020 In San Pedro Tapanatepec, Oaxaca, a brutal attack on a family left five people dead. Among the victims were relatives of businessman Rigoberto N., owner of AV&TECH, including his brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and their six-year-old daughter. The attackers arrived in two white pickups and fired on the vehicle carrying the family, discharging more than 150 rounds of various calibers. The motive for the attack is currently unknown.
Three family members, including a three-year-old and six-year-old child and a 22-year-old woman, were injured and taken to the hospital. Due to a lack of medical care at the local hospital, Rigoberto N. transferred them to Arriaga in Chiapas for treatment; however, the three-year-old child died upon arrival. The woman sustained seven gunshot wounds to her back, while the boy and his cousin were shot in the limbs and head.
