LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA – JULY 13, 2025 Incident took place in Downtown Los Angeles near the Crypto.com Arena. LAPD officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the intersection of Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard. Upon arrival, they saw a man holding a machete, running around erratically and shouting at bystanders. He even charged at the officers, but they did not yet consider the situation escalated enough to use live rounds.
Things changed when the man got into a black Dodge Challenger and attempted to flee, crashing into one of the police vehicles. He then stepped out of the car still wielding the machete and ran directly at the officers. This time, they responded with gunfire.
The bullets immediately brought the attacker down. He survived only thanks to the officers providing him with first aid on the spot. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but no further updates on his health status have been released.
