BOGRA, DATTABARI, BANGLADESH – SEPTEMBER 7, 2025 At the Shatabdi gas station in the Dattabari area, a brutal murder took place involving a male employee who worked as a cashier. He was identified as 28-year-old Iqbal Hasan. His colleague, 25-year-old Rakibul Islam Roton, beat him to death with a hammer while he slept and then slit his throat with a knife to ensure he was dead. The incident reportedly followed an argument in which Rakibul accused Iqbal of stealing fuel.
Shortly after the murder, Rakibul stole Iqbal’s mobile phone and 36,500 BDT (around 300 USD) in cash before fleeing the scene. Police apprehended him the next day in Mouchak, Gazipur. During interrogation, under the weight of the evidence – especially security camera footage – he confessed to the murder.
Iqbal was reportedly a model employee and reliable worker who had been at the gas station for four years. He left behind a grieving pregnant wife.
