Headless body of young woman found in landfill

VERA CRUZ, PORTO SEGURO, BAHIA, BRAZIL – SEPTEMBER 8, 2025 Discovery of a headless young woman’s body shocked the entire Pindorama district. She was found lying near BR-367 close to a garbage dump. In addition to her severed head, six of her fingers were also cut off, leaving only two on each hand. Her head was not found at the scene.

Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Sara Cristina Ferreira de Souza. They also commented on the missing fingers, stating that this suggests she was killed by the notorious Comando Vermelho (CV) gang, known for leaving such marks on their victims.

Sara’s parents said they last saw their daughter on September 6, when she left for a party in Porto Seguro. She spoke with her mother that night to say she was fine, but she has not been heard from since. Her mother insists that her daughter had no involvement with gang activities. Investigators, however, cannot take this claim at face value, as it is common for the parents of gang victims to make similar statements.
