BRAZIL Armed man attempted to rob passengers on a train. He stormed in, demanding phones and money under the threat of a weapon. However, several passengers overpowered and restrained him. Before the police arrived, they brutally beat him, including kicking him in the head.
The passengers’ actions can be seen as brave and commendable, but only to a certain extent. Everyone’s rights end at detaining the robber, not at beating him when he can no longer resist. Those men certainly exposed themselves to the risk of imprisonment.
As a general rule, it is best not to resist during an armed robbery. The money and phones you carry are never worth risking your health or life.
