JIANGE COUNTY, SICHUAN, CHINA – SEPTEMBER 27, 2025 55-year-old aviation enthusiast and influencer, Tang Feiji, died in a tragic ultralight helicopter accident. He was piloting the helicopter while live streaming the experience on the Chinese social media platform Douyin, where over 1,000 fans watched the accident unfold.
Shortly before the crash, he briefly landed to adjust his camera and then took off again sharply. At that moment, his ultralight helicopter ran into trouble, crashed, and caught fire. Fans in the live chat pleaded for someone to call for help, but Tang died at the scene.
Chinese authorities launched an investigation shortly after the accident. It was discovered that Tang Feiji did not hold any type of pilot license. He was telling his fans that none was required to fly an ultralight helicopter. Authorities disagreed. It was also found that Tang was not wearing any type of safety helmet or parachute. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown.
