NANDED, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA Elderly man ended up in the blind spot of the driver of a heavy truck. While he thought the driver knew he was there and would react, the driver had not the slightest chance of seeing him. He was run over and suffered injuries incompatible with life. The truck’s wheels crushed him and forced his brain out of his head.
This tragic incident is a reminder of how dangerous the blind spots of large vehicles can be. Never assume that a truck or bus driver can see you simply because you can see their vehicle. Stay out of blind spots, keep a safe distance, and make sure the driver has noticed you before moving alongside or in front of a large vehicle.
