KAHRAMANMARAŞ, TURKEY – SEPTEMBER 25, 2025 44-year-old Atilla Ayıntaplı entered a hospital armed with a shotgun. His ex-wife, Eser Karaca, worked there as a nurse, and he intended to take bloody revenge on her. The incident occurred just a few hours after Eser won a court ruling granting a restraining order against Atilla, who had been harassing her for a long time.

Atilla Ayıntaplı went to her office, where he first confronted her verbally. When he pulled out the shotgun, Eser realized her life was in danger and started to run. Atilla chased her through the hospital corridors. Unfortunately, he eventually caught up with her on the staircase, where a fatal shot was fired. Eser was dead at the scene, despite receiving immediate professional first aid in the hospital.
Ayıntaplı fled the scene after the act but was soon apprehended by the police. He currently faces charges of murder, obstruction of a court order, and witness intimidation. The prosecution is seeking a life sentence for him.
