WAKE FOREST, NORTH CAROLINA, USA – SEPTEMBER 30, 2025 Domestic dispute between 40-year-old Josefina Tavarez and her partner, 44-year-old Hariston Jose Ureña-Morales, ended in her murder. In a fit of rage, Hariston grabbed a gun and shot her in the head. The woman was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Shortly after the incident, Ureña-Morales recorded a video walking around their home on Mill Dam Road, visibly expressing remorse. In the background, his dead girlfriend can be seen lying on the grass near the house. He speaks in Spanish and says: “I failed. But I was forced to fail. The woman I loved cheated on me. My people, I’m sorry. Forgive me.” Ureña-Morales was detained without bail, and his next court hearing is scheduled for October 22, 2025.

Josefina left behind three children, two of whom are minors – an 11-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter – who unfortunately witnessed their mother’s murder.
