TAINAN, TAIWAN – NOVEMBER 4, 2025 Tragic traffic accident occurred near the Erliao Sunrise Viewing Platform in Zuozhen District, Tainan, southern Taiwan, claiming the life of a 17-year-old motorcyclist. According to police reports, a group of young men was driving downhill when a Mazda 3 lost control while turning, colliding with a motorcycle in front of it. The car then veered off the road, hit an electric pole, and rolled down a slope.
Emergency services quickly responded, dispatching nine vehicles and more than twenty rescuers. Because the car was badly deformed after the crash, firefighters had to use rope rescue techniques to secure the vehicle and free the trapped passengers. Three men were taken to the hospital, but the 17-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Investigations revealed that neither the 18-year-old Mazda driver nor the deceased 17-year-old rider possessed a driver’s license. Police are still examining the exact cause of the crash, including possible speeding and driver inexperience. Shortly after the incident, a suspected dashcam video from inside the Mazda surfaced online, allegedly showing moments before the collision. The footage sparked widespread criticism, with many viewers condemning the reckless driving and lack of skill of the young driver.
