Intoxicated taxi driver ran over 11 people, resulting in 2 deaths

BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA – NOVEMBER 8, 2025 Tragic accident occurred when a drunk taxi driver ran into a group of pedestrians. The vehicle lost control while going downhill, striking 11 people before crashing into a shop wall.

Among the injured are four children aged between four months and fifteen years. Two of them suffered severe head injuries, and doctors confirmed brain death. Adult victims range in age from 22 to 40, with most sustaining multiple injuries. All the injured were taken to La Victoria Hospital and Santa Clara Clinic.

The 56-year-old driver was heavily intoxicated at the time of the accident. Police detained him at the scene and impounded the vehicle. The traffic police commander confirmed that tests showed a second-degree level of intoxication. Families of the victims are now seeking justice and warning other drivers about the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol.
