BAGHPAT, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA – NOVEMBER 22, 2025 Seventeen-year-old Tarun Saini tragically died after he deliberately climbed up to a transformer at night and touched a wire carrying 11,000 volts. CCTV footage, lasting about 1 minute and 16 seconds, shows the student catching fire within seconds. A loud explosion followed, and his body burned almost instantly.
His family found him already burned near the transformer in Gandhi Nagar Colony on Gurana Road and immediately took him to a hospital in Delhi, where doctors declared him dead.
According to witnesses and relatives, the boy had been looking at something on his phone shortly before his death, then crossed a fence and touched the transformer. People nearby tried to warn and save him, but it was already too late. The electric shock caused an explosion and a power outage across the entire neighborhood.
The motive for the suicide is not yet known. Police said the family does not want to provide any information and no official complaint has been filed. The video and witness accounts suggest it was an intentional act, and the family and police are now investigating the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
