SUDAN Another of many leaked videos from Sudan, documenting not only violations of human rights but also the moral upbringing of a child. An RSF fighter allowed his young son to painfully whip one of the captives – according to all available information, this is an unarmed civilian.
The Geneva Conventions strictly prohibit any torture of civilians as well as soldiers. Similar videos from war-torn countries can therefore serve as evidence of their violation.
The war in Sudan began in April 2023 as a power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The conflict erupted after an agreement on a transition to civilian rule collapsed. Peace efforts repeatedly fail. Both sides of the conflict accuse each other of human rights violations. The fact remains that both sides demonstrably violate them.
