SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS, CHIAPAS, MEXICO – DECEMBER 7, 2025 On the highway near San Cristóbal, a tragic bus accident occurred involving a group of agricultural workers from the Tzotzil and Tzeltal communities. According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the bus due to a mechanical failure in the braking system and a burst rear tire. This caused a crash in which the bus overturned.
The consequences of the accident were tragic. At least two people died at the scene. 22 people were injured to varying degrees. Ambulances, the civil protection unit, and the national guard assisted with first aid and transport to hospitals.
