INDIA Small Indian Muslim community was left shocked when their spiritual leader, titled as a maulvi, was caught in the act of having sex with a married woman from the same community. They dragged both of them outside, tied them to a tree, and publicly whipped them painfully.
Adultery is not a criminal offense under Indian law, so in similar cases the police cannot even be called. This is likely the main reason why the believing community decided to enforce their own version of justice. However, even faith cannot justify violence or stand above the laws of the country. All participants exposed themselves to possible legal consequences by behaving this way.
