NORTH JAKARTA, JAKARTA, INDONESIA – DECEMBER 11, 2025 Delivery van crashed into a group of students during a morning activity at SDN Kalibaru 01, a public elementary school in North Jakarta. The van, part of a government program providing free nutritious meals to children, lost control while entering the school grounds.
Authorities report that around 20–21 students and one teacher were injured and taken to hospitals for treatment, with some requiring urgent medical care. Witnesses said the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka expressed deep regret over the incident and called for a thorough investigation. Police have named the 34-year-old driver as a suspect for negligent injury, which could carry up to seven years in prison.
