JABOATÃO DOS GUARARAPES, PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY 5, 2026 Tragic accident in the Engenho Velho district of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in the Greater Recife area, claimed the life of a pedestrian after he was struck by a motorcycle on the busy PE-17 road, known as Estrada da Muribeca. Security cameras captured the moment of impact.
According to available information, the pedestrian was crossing the road with a package on his shoulder. After waiting briefly on the sidewalk, he stepped onto the road as a truck passed by. When he noticed an approaching motorcycle, he tried to quicken his pace, but could not avoid the collision. As a result of the impact, both the pedestrian and the motorcyclist were thrown and slid several meters along the asphalt, while parts of the motorcycle broke off and scattered across the road.
The pedestrian died before emergency services arrived, while the motorcyclist was taken to Hapvida Ilha do Leite Hospital in central Recife. According to the hospital, the motorcyclist’s family did not authorize the release of his medical condition.
Police and road authorities are still investigating the case, but no further details have been released.
