BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA – MARCH, 2026 Routine police check quickly turned into drama when officers stopped a vehicle driven by a 45-year-old trans woman, Beatriz. She was dressed only in underwear and visibly under the influence of alcohol. When the officers asked her to identify herself, she became unusually aggressive.
Out of nowhere, she made a gesture as if she were saying goodbye to the officers and headed toward her car. She got behind the wheel and hit the gas, running over one of the female officers present and seriously injuring her.
A police chase began, which didn’t last very long. After about half a mile (800 meters), Beatriz was stopped by one of the police vehicles. At that location, officers finally detained her. But she resisted so violently that she injured another officer during the arrest.
