CONGO Man was accused of practicing witchcraft, allegedly causing a man’s genitals to disappear. An angry crowd quickly formed around him, believing the rumors. One person in the crowd even claimed that his penis disappeared after shaking hands with the accused.
The crowd showed him no mercy. They beat him nearly to death and then set his body on fire. When police arrived, it was too late to help the victim. No one was arrested in connection with the case, as the crowd had dispersed by the time authorities arrived.
Currently, in some rural regions of the Congo, a myth about the mysterious disappearance of male genitals is spreading. Superstitious and largely uneducated villagers genuinely believe it and live in fear. Allegedly, witches with magical powers can make a man’s genitals vanish with just a touch.
