The couple was identified as 28-year-old Rochelle Lohana Pedrosa Ferreira and 31-year-old José Ricardo Gomes da Silva. According to reports, they were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, which contributed to the tragedy.
The driver of the Ford sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. According to police statements and eyewitness accounts, she was the one who caused the accident. For unknown reasons, she was driving at high speed in the wrong direction.
