MARANHÃO, BRAZIL – MAY 11, 2026 Drivers traveling on the BR-010 road in the Tocantina area noticed a suspicious garbage bag with the suspicion that it contained human remains and contacted the police. This was later confirmed. However, the bag did not contain a whole human body, but only a severed leg.
According to the initial investigation, it is very likely that the limb was removed from a patient in a hospital during a surgical procedure. In the vicinity of the discovery site there is a company responsible for the removal and disposal of hospital waste.
