KARACHI, PAKISTAN – MARCH, 2013 Arshad Pappu was one of the prominent figures of the underworld in the Lyari area of the city of Karachi. In the environment of long-standing gang wars in this neighborhood, he built a strong position through involvement in organized crime, which included extortion, kidnappings for ransom, drug trafficking, and violent clashes with rival groups.
He was originally linked to a gang led by Rehman Dakait, which was among the dominant structures in the local underworld. Over time, however, relations between individual factions broke down, and Arshad Pappu separated from his former allies. He formed his own group and became an independent player in the struggle for control over territory and illegal activities in Lyari.
Tension between rivals in the area gradually escalated into open violence. In 2013, the situation escalated dramatically when Arshad Pappu, along with his brother Yasir Arafat and other associates, was kidnapped by a group linked to Uzair Baloch. According to available information, they were all taken back to Lyari, where they were murdered during the ongoing conflict.
Reports stated that the victims were tortured before their deaths, which further increased the brutality of the entire incident. His death became one of the most well-known and widely reported cases within the gang wars in Karachi.
