BAHRAICH, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA – SEPTEMBER 2, 2024 Naeem Khan of Motipur village did not approve of his 17-year-old daughter Khushboo’s romantic relationship. She had found a boy from the same village and was regularly seeing him for sex. When he forbade her from this relationship, she repeatedly started running away from home to meet her boyfriend.
This behaviour made him very angry. It wasn’t just about his EGO that his own daughter wouldn’t listen to him, it was about family honor in the village. For this reason, he decided to clear the name of their family and committed a so-called honor killing. In rural India, this is still a fairly common practice.
He murdered her with an axe. First he cut off her head and then he chopped her body into six pieces. He took the remains to the front of the police station and showed them to all passers-by.
Not long after that, the man was arrested, charged with murder, and will soon face trial. He has other daughters at home. Khushboo was the eldest.
