MEDIAȘ, ROMANIA, 2022 Romania was shaken by the case of then 17-year-old Nino Luciano, known online by the nickname “Tobbz764,” who was linked to the extremist internet groups 764 and MKU. The group 764 is described as a dangerous online community focused on manipulating minors, spreading extremist ideologies, and promoting self-harm, violence, or other harmful content. MKU, also known as “Maniacs Murder Cult,” is an even more radical group glorifying brutal attacks and murders, especially against vulnerable victims such as the elderly or homeless people.
In April 2022, Luciano first attacked an 82-year-old man in the Romanian city of Mediaș, pushing him down the stairs and seriously injuring him. Two weeks later, he brutally murdered a 74-year-old woman, attacking her without any provocation while she was taking out the trash. He knocked the victim to the ground and then slit her throat, allegedly streaming the attack online.
Investigators concluded that the motive was not personal revenge, but an attempt to gain respect and recognition within these extremist communities. The court found Nino Luciano guilty of attempted murder, murder, and other criminal offenses, sentencing him to 14 years in prison along with mandatory psychiatric treatment.
