JALGAON DISTRICT, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA – JANUARY 22, 2025 Tragic railway accident occurred in which at least 13 passengers died and dozens more were injured. The incident took place on the Pushpak Express, where panic broke out among passengers after some noticed sparks and smoke coming from the undercarriage of the train.
Because of fears of a fire, passengers began jumping out of the cars in confusion directly onto the tracks. However, many did not realize that the adjacent track was still in operation. At that very moment, another express train was passing through and was unable to stop in time, striking several people.
According to the preliminary investigation, the main cause of the disaster was not the fire itself, but a combination of a technical issue, rapidly spreading rumors, and the resulting mass panic. The tragedy once again showed how dangerous misinformation and chaotic reactions can be in crisis situations.
