LISBON, PORTUGAL – JULY 7, 2026 Tragic traffic accident occurred in the city of Agualva-Cacém, in the Lisbon metropolitan area, when a city bus left the roadway and crashed into a bus stop. Two women who were waiting there for the bus were pinned between the vehicle and a concrete pillar. Both suffered fatal injuries.
Several other people, including passengers inside the bus, were also injured in the crash. Some of them were taken to the hospital in serious condition. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined. According to initial reports, the bus apparently did not brake before the impact, and the circumstances of the tragedy are now under investigation by Portuguese authorities.
