USA – JULY 4, 2026 July 4, Independence Day, is the biggest holiday in the United States. Americans celebrate it every year with flags, parades, concerts, public events, and, of course, fireworks. An estimated 10,000 to 15,000 people are injured annually in fireworks-related incidents during the holiday. Deaths are relatively rare, typically remaining in the single digits, with an average of about 10 each year.
The photos show one victim of a fireworks accident. The blast severely mangled his hand and blew off several of his fingers. The exact circumstances of the incident have not yet been determined.
The accident serves as a stark reminder of how dangerous fireworks can be when handled improperly. Many of these injuries are preventable by following the manufacturer’s instructions, buying certified products, storing them correctly, and never using expired fireworks.
