Russian soldier’s necrotic foot after stepping on landmine

UKRAINE Russian soldier suffered a severe injury to his foot after stepping on a landmine. The explosion literally tore his foot apart and left him lying in the field without the ability to walk. He was found by his fellow soldiers only after five long days of waiting. By that time, the wound had become infected, and the tissue had begun to gradually die. He was transported to a field hospital, where military doctors attempted to stabilize his condition. It is unknown whether he survived.

An interesting fact about landmines is that they are not designed to cause fatal injuries. Their purpose is only to disable a soldier and remove him from combat. This is not for humanitarian reasons, but for practical ones. An injured soldier requires more of the enemy’s time and financial resources.
