SIHANOUKVILLE, CAMBODIA – JULY 30, 2026 Tragic incident at a market ended with the deaths of a young couple. According to preliminary information, the events were preceded by an argument between the man and the woman regarding their relationship.

The woman, who was a Cambodian citizen, worked at a local Vietnamese pho soup stall. Shortly before the attack, she was supposed to have informed her partner that she wanted to end the relationship. The man allegedly disagreed with the breakup, and a heated verbal confrontation subsequently occurred between the two.
During the conflict, the man allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly attacked the woman. She suffered injuries mainly to her arm, head, and face. After the attack, she collapsed and died at the scene.
The man subsequently allegedly injured himself. Although he was taken to a hospital, doctors were unable to save him and he later died.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation to clarify the exact course of events and all circumstances that preceded the tragic attack. Authorities later carried out an autopsy and other forensic procedures. The remains of both deceased individuals were handed over to their families for burial.
