CAPINÓPOLIS, MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL – MARCH 3, 2025 Woman was taking part in traditional carnival celebrations in the streets with her friends. But they overindulged in alcohol and got into an altercation with the police. When someone tries to snatch the rifle from the officer’s hands, the rifle spontaneously discharges and hits the woman in the face at close range.
Although a rubber bullet is a non-lethal weapon, at such close range it can cause very serious injury. The projectile lodged in her head, causing a fractured jaw.
Doctors say the injury could have caused irreversible damage to the woman’s hearing, speech and even her eyesight. She is currently unable to open her mouth or close her jaw.
According to the victim’s testimony, the rifle did not fire accidentally. She claims that the officer shot her on purpose. She has currently hired two lawyers and is planning to sue him.
