MALI Graphic footage shows the aftermath of a clash between Islamist rebels from JNIM and government forces working alongside the Russian Africa Corps. All of the militants were successfully eliminated.
In Mali, the government army is fighting the jihadist group JNIM (Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin), which is linked to al-Qaeda. The Malian military junta has been closely cooperating with Russia since 2021. Wagner mercenaries initially operated there, but in 2025 they were replaced by the Russian Africa Corps, which is subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Its personnel support Malian forces during combat operations against JNIM and other insurgent groups, including through the use of drones and aircraft.
