PETROLINA, PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL – AUGUST 17, 2026 38-year-old Eziel Cavalcanti de Sá was shot while on his way to school with his daughter. The attack occurred on Rua 16 in the Loteamento Recife neighborhood.

A security camera captured the father and daughter walking together along the street. At one point, a car approached them, and one of the men inside fired several shots at Eziel. He suffered serious gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
The girl witnessed the attack. After the shooting, she ran to her mother in shock. Her mother had come out of the house after hearing the gunshots and her daughter’s screams.
The perpetrators fled the scene after the attack, and their identities and the motive for the shooting remain unknown. Brazilian authorities are investigating the case. The victim’s body was taken to the forensic medical institute in Petrolina for the necessary procedures.
