BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA – AUGUST 17, 2026 Wanted 23-year-old man was killed in a shootout with police during a house party in 9 de Abril, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Police had raided the property while searching for suspected members of a gang accused of stealing cars and carrying out home invasions.
The man, identified as Diego Ezequiel López (23), reportedly opened fire at officers through a window before attempting to escape by jumping from the house. He was shot in the head and chest and died shortly afterward. Police said the weapon he was carrying had previously been reported stolen.
López had a criminal record and an active arrest warrant dating back to 2022. Two suspects were arrested during the initial operation, while further raids later led to additional arrests.
