MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – AUGUST 26, 2026 Teacher Vinicius Siqueira Figueiredo (23) was attacked with a knife by his student during a class at a tutoring center. According to security camera footage, the teacher was standing at the board when the student unexpectedly attacked him from behind. He suffered a total of nine stab wounds and subsequently managed to escape the room while the attacker chased him.

According to most local media, the student was 15 years old, although some sources report that he was 14. He was later detained by police and placed in a juvenile facility. The case is being investigated as an offense corresponding to attempted murder.
The motive for the attack has not yet been definitively confirmed by police. According to the student’s legal representative, the attack may have been related to a poor test grade. The teacher himself, however, said there had been no conflict between them before the attack and that nothing suggested the student intended to attack him.
Vinicius Siqueira Figueiredo survived the attack and remained hospitalized in stable condition. Doctors continued to monitor him, and according to available information, he was not in immediate danger of death.
