Airport ground worker run over by Airbus A350

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA – AUGUST 24, 2026 Oscar Robayo, a 39-year-old ground handling worker for Samsic, died after a tragic accident at Montréal-Trudeau Airport in Canada. The incident occurred in the evening during ground handling operations involving an Airbus A350 operated by French bee, which was preparing to depart for Paris.

During the so-called pushback, in which an aircraft is moved backward from its parking stand using a ground vehicle, the plane began to move and Robayo entered its path. According to preliminary information, he fell and was subsequently caught beneath one of the aircraft’s wheels. Investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

Robayo suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital by emergency responders, where he later died. None of the passengers or crew members were injured.

The accident is being investigated by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada together with the Quebec coroner’s office. Montréal-Trudeau Airport subsequently expressed its condolences to the deceased’s family and colleagues and provided support to employees and passengers who witnessed the tragic incident.
