BURLA, ODISHA, INDIA – AUGUST 29, 2026 36-year-old Md Anish, the owner of a meat shop, was gunned down in broad daylight near Kirba Chowk. Police said he was shot three times by his 28-year-old former employee, Raja Swami.
The shooting reportedly followed a dispute between the two men. Investigators are looking into a possible dispute over unpaid wages, as Anish was allegedly several months behind on payments to Swami. Other personal and financial motives are also being considered. Some reports claim that Swami had lived with Anish for several months and owed him money as well.
Swami fled the scene after the shooting but was arrested later that evening. Police also recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the attack. Seven spent cartridges were found at the scene, while three bullets struck Anish. He was rushed to VIMSAR Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
