AGONA FIE, WESTERN REGION, GHANA – AUGUST 20, 2026 40-year-old Seth Kobina was shot at around 8:00 p.m. during an armed robbery of his gold shop. According to police, the attackers shot him in the chest. He was taken to a hospital in Agona Nkwanta, where he was pronounced dead.
Police subsequently arrested five suspects. Emmanuel Amponsah (29), also known as “Vandam,” was identified as the alleged leader of the group based on security camera footage. When he was arrested, police found a homemade pistol and two rounds of ammunition in his possession. However, Amponsah became ill after his arrest and died after being taken to the hospital.
The other suspects are Christopher Seyiri (47), known as “Cross and Die,” Bashiru Ibrahim (20), Thomas Odoom (30), known as “Wale,” and Isaac Quayeson, nicknamed “Last Burial.” During a search of Quayeson’s home, police found another homemade pistol, three rounds of ammunition, a metal rod, and two machetes.
According to police, Isaac Quayeson identified Emmanuel Amponsah during the investigation as the man who allegedly shot Seth Kobina and also identified Thomas Odoom as one of the men captured on security camera footage. The investigation is ongoing, and police are searching for other possible accomplices.
