CAMPINAS, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – APRIL 28, 2026 Jewelry store robbery in the center of a Brazilian city ended with the death of an innocent bystander. The man tried to prevent the suspects from escaping the scene by using his own body, but one of them shot him directly in the head. Miraculously, he managed to survive, and doctors later stabilized his condition.
Police immediately launched a search for the perpetrators and subsequently found their getaway vehicle on Avenida João Jorge. The stolen jewelry and other valuables were still inside. Shortly afterward, two suspects were apprehended: 24-year-old Raniel Machado and 20-year-old Vitor Hugo da Silva. The third suspect managed to escape again, and no further information about his capture has been published since.
