PALMYRA, SYRIA – MAY, 2015 A propaganda movie by the notorious Islamic State terrorist organisation shows footage of the battle for the city of Palmyra. Unfortunately, they managed to win this battle and captured the city. The video contains English subtitles.
Palmyra is an ancient city with many historical monuments such as a colonnade, a theatre, a triumphal arch, churches, temples and burial grounds. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When ISIS occupied Palmyra, they committed the worst atrocities against culture and history. They deliberately destroyed many of the monuments.
