EL CERINAL, GUATEMALA – OCTOBER 11, 2024 Group of four young people, two men and two women, were drinking alcoholic beverages in a gas station restaurant. Out of nowhere, two gunmen burst in and gunned all four down. An employee of the restaurant managed to escape and survived. The others were not so lucky. When paramedics arrived, none of them were showing vital signs.
The victims are: 23 year old Wendy Nayeli Peñas Godínez; 22 year old Sabdi Antonia Mendez Parada; 23 year old Diego Alejandro Chajon Perez; 21 year old Lester Humberto Ortega Orozco.

The police investigation is currently still pending, so it is not officially clear what the motive was for this quadruple homicide. Some locals claim that an altercation preceded the attack. Others believe it was a settling of scores between gangs.
