SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – MARCH 15, 2025 During an argument, her ex-husband Rodrigo forced Cassiane Eugênia, 46, to drink a solution of lye (caustic soda). This was fatal for her. The strong alkali burned her esophagus and internal organs and Cassiane died a horrible death. Rodrigo videotaped her last moments.

The incident took place in the eastern part of Sao Paulo, in the neighborhood of Guaianases. According to family members and witnesses, the former couple often argued about jealousy. Rodrigo also frequently threatened physical assault and death to her entire family. Several witnesses said they heard cries for help from the scene.
Just hours before her death, Cassiane confided in several family members that Rodrigo had again threatened to kill her. He reportedly sent her a voicemail telling her that when she returned home, everything would be broken and she would face death.
A frantic video recording of her final moments was circulated by Rodrigo. He sent it to several members of her family with the comment, “Look what she spits out. That’s coffee and also the acid she drank.”
