CULIACÁN, SINALOA, MEXICO – DECEMBER 31, 2024 In the area of El Trébol de Costa Rica, south of Culiacán, two dead bodies, a woman and a man, were found. Both showed signs of torture and had their hands bound. Everything suggests they were thrown out of a car.
The woman was identified as 22-year-old Karen Villega. She was last seen on December 26th when she was kidnapped by two armed men on motorcycles right from her workplace. She worked as a waitress in a seafood restaurant.

Although there was suspicion that Karen may have been involved in organized crime, this was never confirmed. The identity of the man was never determined.
