Russian woman dies after falling from viewing platform

GAGRA, ABKHAZIA, GEORGIA – APRIL 7, 2024 40-year-old Russian woman from Sochi, identified as Polenko Inessa Valeryevna Polenko, went on a trip with a friend to Abkhazia. It is a state recognized only by Russia and a few other countries. Officially, however, it is still part of Georgia. She wanted to take some photos on an unsecured viewing platform but fell from it down from a height of about 165 feet (50 meters). Her friend immediately called rescuers to the scene, who transported her to the intensive care unit. However, she died there.
