MARTE, BORNO STATE, NIGERIA – FEBRUARY, 2021 Members of a terrorist organization launched an attack on the 402nd Special Forces (SF) brigade of the Nigerian army, which was engaged in clearing mines from the road. The attack was quickly repelled and all 19 terrorists were killed. There were zero casualties on the army side.
Boko Haram is a terrorist organization with ties to ISIS, active on the African continent, mainly in northern Nigeria and Somalia. They have been fighting government forces for years to create an independent Islamic state in northern Nigeria. Unfortunately, in recent years they have been quite successful, and the Nigerian government has only minimal control over some areas.
