EDIRNE, TURKEY – JUNE 4, 2025 Mental problems related to rejection by society drove a Turkish trans girl to the most desperate act. She committed suicide by jumping from the 13th floor. She streamed the whole event live on social media, where she begged her shocked viewers to record the stream and send it to her parents, whom she partly blamed for her death. Her jump was also captured by a security camera on a nearby building.
Although Turkey is a relatively civilized country, a large part of the population remains very conservative. Being transgender or gay there is extremely difficult. Although being gay is legal, there are no laws protecting their rights or limiting discrimination. If there is a trans or homosexual person in a family, it is often a disgrace for the entire family.

“Tell my mom”,
“Connect my mom”,
“Share the screen recording. Post it on all trans pages. They don’t give us the right to live. My family doesn’t accept me at first. Everything is about reputation”,
“Bye bye,” was heard. While the user was talking on the phone via speaker during the live broadcast, another person said:
“For the love of Allah and Muhammad, come back. I’ll show you how much I love you”,
“Yusuf, did you go?”
